Bruce Larsen

General Manager and Director, Northpine Ltd, Waipu, Northland

  • Member of the NZTIF Board since 2017

  • Trainee forester at NZ Forest Service 1981

  • BForSc (Hons), Canterbury University 1986

  • Log harvesting research, Forest Research Institute (now Scion)

  • Log harvesting and sales at Woodhill Forest with Timberlands and then CHH Forests concluding as International Sales Manager

  • MBA, Auckland University 1996

  • Purchased a shareholding in Northpine 2000, becoming GM in 2007 and leading the company through development of specialised products for the domestic and export markets

Our Team

JEFF ILOTT - Director

Joined NZTIF in 2009, bringing experience in:

  • Fifteen years in the construction industry including site management roles

  • Involvement in all technical areas related to timber production and use

  • Active participation in drafting of NZ and joint Australia and NZ Standard specifications for timber

  • Workplace safety issues, especially relating to hazardous substances

  • Quality assurance programmes for timber grading and treatment

  • Seminars for NZTIF Members

KEVIN HING - Advisor

Joined NZTIF in 1987, bringing experience in:

  • NZ sawmilling interests in the sale of state forest assets

  • Development of export markets in Australia, across Asia and United States, including creation of knowledge bases about NZ Radiata Pine

  • Representing NZ sawmiller interests in setting domestic and joint Australia and NZ Standard specifications

  • Advocacy work for NZ timber for international trade, health and safety, environment and technical issues

  • Information and advisory to NZTIF Members

MARK ORANGE - Quality Assurance Manager

Joined NZTIF in 2024, bringing experience in:

• Around 34 years involvement in manufacturing, with an interest in line, process and some product design improvement work

• 24 years involvement with the timber industry in particular with Engineered Wood Products and some solid wood production

• 14 years involvement with timber treatment and timber treatment compliance pathways

• Standard NZ committee member for the revision of NZS3640

• Compliance requirements for Quality Assurance schemes such as; CodeMark, Structural Timber, Timber Treatment, JAS, Biosecurity (exporting), FSC, ISO9000 Quality and ISO14001 Environmental certification schemes

• Being audited by external organisations

• Performing internal audits


LEONIE CRAWSHAW - Office

Joined NZTIF in 2016, bringing experience in:

  • Administrative office procedures and sales

  • Support for all NZTIF activities

  • Organisation of meetings, training courses and events, including liaison with presenters and venue management

  • Collation of information and presentation of data from NZTIF surveys
